When a video finishes playing and I click to go to the next slide, the video restarts again?

This is a feature of PowerPoint. The left mouse button changes from a pointer to a hand during a video. Cilcking the mouse during a video will pause the video; clicking the mouse at the end of a video will restart it. Here are several solutions:

  • Move the mouse pointer to the very bottom of the screen during the presentation. This will allow you to advance to the next slide after the video.
  • If operating the slide show from the keyboard, use the space bar instead of the mouse.
  • Another workaround, but not recommended because it is rather complicated, would be this: On the PowerPoint toolbar at the top, select Slide Show > Action Buttons, and select the Forward or Next Action Button. Click and drag to cover the entire video with the button. Next, Right-click the button and select "Format AutoShape". Under the Colors and Lines tab, select No Fill, and No Line. Click OK. This should make the button invisible. If you choose this method, you will need to repeat these steps for each video.
