The videos in my PowerPoint presentations do not play, or seem to be missing?
This is probably because the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive is something other than D, and/or the link to the video file is broken.
Videos in PowerPoint cannot be embedded into the file. They are always linked. This is a feature built into Microsoft PowerPoint (probably because video files are typically quite large in size). There are several solutions for this problem:
- If drive letter D is one of your hard drives (instead of the CD-ROM drive), copy the MEDIA directory from the CD-ROM to drive D:
- Change the drive letter of the CD-ROM to D: if that letter is available.
- Open the "Presentation Macros..." file from the CD-ROM. Then open the PowerPoint file which has the missing videos. Use the Macro from Presentation Macros, called "ChangeDriveLetter" to re-link the videos to your actual CD-ROM drive letter (Be sure to save the file to your hard drive after re-linking).
- One other solution is to copy the linked video files into the same directory as the PowerPoint file itself. Another way of doing this is going to File > Package for CD.... This will collect any linked files and place them into a specified directory; something you might want to do if saving the presentation to a CD and using it on another computer.
